CupRoute · How scoring works
Two ways to score — match points for every game you predict, plus bonus points as teams advance through the knockout rounds.
Earned on every one of the 104 matches
Exact score
Both the home and away score match the actual result exactly.
Correct goal margin
The difference between your predicted scores equals the actual margin — but it's not the exact scoreline. Applies to draws too (e.g. predict 0–0, actual 1–1).
Correct result
You predicted the right winner (or a draw) but the goal margin was different.
Wrong result
You predicted the wrong team to win, or predicted a draw when there wasn't one.
Examples — actual result is Mexico 3–1 South Africa
Actual: 3–1 Your pick: 3–1
Actual: 3–1 Your pick: 2–0

How bonus points are calculated
Your match score predictions determine who you predicted to advance. For example, predicting Mexico to beat the USA in a Round of 32 match means you predicted Mexico into the Round of 16.
Group stage → Round of 32: Your predicted group standings (calculated from your group match predictions) determine the 32 teams you're tipping to qualify. 5 points per correct team.
Knockout rounds: For each knockout match your pick correctly identifies the winner, you earn the bonus for that team advancing to the next round.
